My Mom’s Picks from the Nordstrom Sale

Hey friends! As you know, my mom CarCar and I have a yearly tradition. We shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale together and then she takes over my blog to share her picks! This is one of my most-requested blog posts during the sale (I swear y’all like her picks better than mine lol), and I can see why… she has amazing taste! Hi friends, so good to be back for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024! For those who do not know me, I’m Carla, Caitlin’s mom and we have so much fun shopping the sale together every year. I always use the NSALE as a chance to stock up on basic staple pieces for the fall and winter months. The first thing I usually look at? Jeans! Nordstrom has some amazing denim brands in the sale and they tend to sell out quickly. This year I was also excited to see some dresses from Farm Rio, one of my favorite brands for colorful and fun dresses.

I am talking about the fit, sizing and features below, but if you have any specific questions just leave a comment. I always look forward to sharing my Nordstrom picks with Caitlin’s readers because you guys are the best!!

For sizing reference – I am 5’3″ and around 115 lbs. I usually wear a size 0 or 2 in dresses, Size 27 in pants and a XS or Small in tops.

Madewell Dedham Stripe Polo Sweater

• Sizing: TTS, I’m wearing a small
• Quality: Caitlin and I both fell in love with this sweater, so we each got one! I love striped sweaters and this one is made from a warm cotton blend that is SO thick and soft in person. I love the subtle detailing of the sleeves and split polo neck. I also think this would be cute tied around your shoulders for a transitional look!

Wit & Wisdom ‘Ab’Solution High Waist Itty Bitty Bootcut Jeans

• Sizing: TTS, wearing a size 4
• Quality: I absolutely love Wit & Wisdom denim, especially for the price! These jeans are so flattering because of the dark wash and the long, slightly flared legs. They’re called ‘Ab’Solution because they’re expertly designed to shape and hold. I feel so comfortable and confident in these jeans!

rag & bone Macie Stripe Rib Polo Sweater

• Sizing: TTS, I’m wearing a size XS
• Quality: This sweater is a bit of a splurge, but I couldn’t resist it! It’s Rag & Bone so the quality is amazing – their sweaters hold up so well, even after washing and drying. It has a ribbed stitch and is made from organic cotton. It has a slightly slouchy fit, but is still figure-flattering. And it just screams fall to me!

MOTHER HIGH WAIST FRAY HEM FLARE LEG JEANS IN “EASY DOES IT”

• Sizing: TTS, I’m wearing a size 27
• Quality: The quality of Mother jeans is always excellent. These fit so well and have the perfect stretch to be flattering and comfortable at the same time. The flare leg is so versatile for wearing any shoe or boot you like. I still love and wear the light wash Mother denim jeans I purchased last year from the sale and they look like new. So happy to have found this pair included in the sale.

Madewell Cable Knit V-Neck Crop Sweater in “Antique Cream”

• Sizing: TTS, I’m wearing a small
• Quality: What a classic sweater! You can tell right away that it’s amazing quality, true to the Madewell brand. It’s not too cropped and I can easily tuck it into my jeans. This is a great transitional sweater because you can wear it now with denim shorts, and then into the fall with jeans and booties!

AG SAIGE HIGH WAIST ANKLE WIDE LEG IN “CROSSWIND”

• Sizing: Size down! I got a size 26 in these.
• Quality:  Are you liking the wide leg denim look? I fell in love with these jeans as soon as I tried them on. They run a bit large so I sized down one size for a better fit. I tried several sweaters and tops with these jeans and I loved how they looked with all of them. They are a great weight and I love the light wash.

B.P. Everyday V-Neck Cotton Blend Cardigan in “Beige Oatmeal Light Heather”

• Sizing: TTS, I’m wearing a size XS
• Quality: I love this cardigan, and for less than $50, you can’t beat the price! This classic color will go with so many different outfits in the fall, from printed blouses to dresses as well as tanks and camis. It has tonal stripes that add a soft texture and also add to the coziness. I know I will reach for this again and again in the fall!

• Quality: This is a very lightweight cashmere sweater and of course it’s also very soft. I love this pretty neutral color, which will go with almost anything. This will be a great layering piece for cooler months and I will be wearing this not only with jeans but also with dress pants and skirts this fall!

Thread & Supply Crop Puffer Vest in “White”

• Sizing: Runs small, I sized up to a M.
• Quality: How fun is the adorable vest?! It’s so soft and I love the cropped length. My store was out of the size small and the medium turned out to be a good fit. This vest would look so cute with white or light colored denim too.

• Quality: These are the first pair of platform sneakers that I have found that are actually comfortable. Some don’t have enough bend in the sole when you walk, but these feel more like a regular sole sneaker AND I do love the little extra height (speaking as a petite gal).

• Quality: I love striped sweaters and was happy to pick up this cardigan in the sale. This is a medium weight sweater and will feel great on a cool fall day. I am wearing it alone as a sweater but of course there are multiple ways to style and layer this over a tee shirt or camisole.

The top is very lightweight and a bit sheer, but not enough that you have to worry about your bra showing. I will be wearing this now and in the cooler months with a cardigan or blazer on top.

• Quality: You NEED to try this on to feel this incredible material! It’s appropriately named Cloudweight – I could live in this 24/7. Seriously the most comfortable fabric ever. This pretty pastel color makes me happy, too. The top could be dressed up and worn to go out, or pair with the matching shorts for a night in!

• Quality: This set is so cool and comfortable. It has that crisp cotton feel that is perfect to sleep in. The colors in the pattern are tranquil and peaceful looking and I love the piping.

• Quality: This terrycloth robe is the ultimate comfort piece. It’s made from Turkish cotton and is SO cozy – perfect to slip on first thing in the morning to enjoy that first cup of coffee. I also love how it matches the pajamas perfectly!

• Quality: This tunic is getting low in stock, so you might want to snag your size if it’s left!! I love this pullover style with the funnel neck. It is a medium heavy weight and I can’t wait to wear this when it gets a bit cooler. I do not like some pullovers (I hate to mess up my hair), but this one is very easy to get over my head with the zipper undone. This will be a pullover I reach for again and again!
